Panettone Italian Specialty Bread

Panettone is a signature Italian dessert for Christmas and New Year’s Celebrations. Made from sweet dough mixed with candied fruits and raisins, panettone is a cake-like bread. The original recipe for Panettone comes from Milan, Italy. The name has several interpretations in Italian folklore, some translate it to mean “luxury bread,” others pass on the story of the name coming from a baker named Tony who was given the recipe from a nobleman trying to win his daughter’s affection. Transferring the expression of love through cooking is a trait that any Italian can relate to in their lives.

Panettone’s tradition may have started in Italy, but this product is so popular that it is now exported across the world. The arrival of Panettone boxes on the shelves of Labriola’s signifies the beginning of the holiday season! The boxes can be as unique as the bread itself. Enjoy the Panettone for your family meal this year or send it as a gift that offers a delectable treat and a deep tradition.

Partanna Olive Oil

The Secret of Sicilian Olive Oil. This olive oil is from Sicily. Sicilian Olive Oil is known to be one of the finest areas for olives in the world. The lush valley with volcanic soil and dry, temperate climate makes this a particularly good spot for olive trees, especially in Eastern Sicily.

The Tradition of the Asaro Family Farm. The Partanna Olive Oil is produced by Asaro Family Farms which was established in 1916. Asaro Organic Farms grows the highest volume of Nocellara Del Belice olives (also known as Castelvetrano olives) in the world. The Asaro Farms are Organic Farms where all products are non-GMO and chemical free. This multigenerational family farm is committed to sustainability.

The Quality of the Olive. The Nocellara Del Belice Olives are picked when they are still bright green which gives them their rich flavor profile. This translates into the olives oil holding notes of artichokes, almonds and a peppery finish. The Partanna olive oil also has very low acidity, averaging around 0.3%. This olive oil is good for finishing, dipping and cooking

Harvest Time. The Nocellara Del Belice Olives are only harvested in October and at the Asaro Farms, they are bottled within hours of harvesting and kept in dark tin to maintain the freshness.

World Class Olive Oil. The Partanna Olive Oil has received awards for quality that rank it as the best olive oil in the world and include 3 Gold Medals & 1 Best of Class at LA County Fair and NYI00C World Olive Oil Competition.

How do they judge olive oils? Olive oils are judged based on fruitiness, pungency, complexity, harmony, bitterness, persistence.
